Similar to phase one, phase two of The City development comprises 11 two bedroom apartments, designed by local architects, David Murray Associates. Offering maximised space and light, with quality fixtures and fittings, prices start from £129,000.
The hospital, which was designed by local architect William Smith in 1874, is being transformed by Premier Burrell Ltd, a partnership between commercial developers, Premier Property Group, and urban regeneration specialist, The Burrell Company. An important listed building, which stands as a major landmark in the Granite City, The City hospital boasts an impressive clock tower in the centre of the former administration building with granite, decorative urns on either side and a green fish scale slate roof.
Andrew Burrell, Managing Director of The Burrell Company, said: 'We are delighted to be involved in the restoration and conversion of The City.
"Bringing new life into the building by transforming it into contemporary living space, whilst retaining the original character of the property, has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience and given us the opportunity to showcase our work in the city of Aberdeen. The first phase was a major success and we are confident phase two will be equally as popular."
Adding to the appeal of The City development is the approach to the new apartments, which passes through listed stone gate piers and individual parking surrounded by parkland, mature shrubs and trees.
The development is also conveniently located within easy access of the city centre, Aberdeen beach, schools, specialist shops, restaurants, public transport and university buildings.
Richard Lyall of Premier Property Group says: "Aberdeen is a bustling, diverse, cosmopolitan city with a lot to offer home owners. The second phase of The City development, like phase one, is expected to appeal to young professionals and also families looking to live in interesting accommodation in a great location, within easy reach of the city centre."
Alex Hutcheon of Hutcheon Rattray and Company, said: "As a high quality, landmark development, the first phase of The City was a great success and, as the refurbishment has progressed, the second phase should be even more successful, especially given the current up-turn in the property market."
Initial site works and construction of The City's phase two development is already under way and first occupations are expected in July 2005.
