Homebuyers in Edinburgh are on tenterhooks as they await the launch of luxury properties at the historic Bell's Mills development in Edinburgh's prestigious Dean Village which are to be released in January 2008.
The 19th Century Bell's Mills House has been refurbished and will open as a Marketing Suite in early 2008 for the adjacent development of 24 new build apartments overlooking the Water of Leith. Purchasers are invited to view plans of the new properties and be given the opportunity to reserve a property..
A specially erected viewing platform towards the rear of Bell's Mills House will allow potential purchasers to see the new properties as they are constructed.
The latest development by BUREDI, a joint venture between The Burrell Company and The EDI Group, have on this occasion teamed up with residential developers New City Vision (NCV). The site is located within the Dean Conservation area which forms a part of the Edinburgh World Heritage Site and was historically Edinburgh's largest milling settlement, benefiting from the riverside location.
Since the 1970s the area has largely been regenerated through the introduction of new residential properties along with the opening of the Water of Leith Walkway in the 1980s which provides access routes going as far as Leith in the north and Balerno in the west.
Andrew Burrell, Managing Director of The Burrell Company, said: "Dean Village is a beautiful area conveniently located within the heart of the City. Having undergone major transformation over the past three decades, it is an increasingly popular place to live offering tranquillity in a charming locale."
Built in three separate blocks of new stone buildings overlooking the Water of Leith, the 24 apartments comprise a variety of two and three bedroom properties with extensive areas of glazing to living quarters. The remains of the water-powered mill - a classically designed rubble-walled granary of the early 1800s -are also being preserved to form an integral and important feature of the development.
Chair of BUREDI and Chief Executive of EDI, Ian Wall, added: "BUREDI has built a strong reputation in sensitive development on historic sites across Edinburgh. The Bell's Mills development will continue that trend and create a high-quality residential community in a much sought after area."
Harry O'Donnell, Chairman of Bell's Mills Ltd and New City Vision said: "It's great news that this eagerly anticipated development will launch early next year with the Marketing Centre located in the historical Bell's Mills house. This will give housebuyers the chance to see first hand how this development will combine beautifully the old with the new as well as further enhance the stunning historical setting."
The development is located to the rear of the Menzies Belford Hotel and near the Edinburgh Sports Club with access to the Water of Leith Walkway.
